Beatrix Potter and the story of Peter Rabbit

Beatrix Potter (London 28.07.1866 – Sawrey 22.12.1943)

Beatrix Potter was a British writer and illustrator, best known for her children’s books starring animals, such as “Peter Rabbit” (Peter Rabbit). Her stories are loved for their charming illustrations and the moral lessons they contain. The story of “Flopsie, Mopsie, Bouncy Tail and Pieter” originated in a correspondence with one of her governesses and became world famous.

Peter Rabbit, a mischievous bunny, is the most famous character and first appeared in 1902. The book became a huge success and contributed to Potter’s wealth. Beatrix Potter used her success to support her passion for nature and farming, and she invested in preserving the English countryside. In 1905, Beatrix Potter purchased Hill Top, a farm near Sawrey in the Lake District. This setting became the setting for many stories. The National Trust continues her work to this day thanks to her donations.

The beloved characters from the stories of Peter Rabbit can be found in our extensive collection of collectibles and gifts.
